Norm "Sugarbone" Sloan, R.I.P.
June 17, 1948 - April 19, 2010
"I've gotten so many compliments
on the rich tone and how unique
the instrument looks. The
audience just can't get over it
and now we're better known as
the band with unusual bass and
it's made me meal ticket for the
band and I figure soon I'm going
to be approached by a lot of
other successful bands because
of my Ergo. I've been playing bass professionally for 30+ years and
never before has something beside my ability made me all of a
sudden so desirable."
A word from Jesse, founder and owner of Ergo Instruments:
Though I didn't get to know Norm very well, I do know he
exemplified the kind of musician we should all strive to be-
Genuine, and Grateful; Everything else is just 'gravy'... The ability to
laugh at inevitable frustration, and relish in successes however
trivial they may seem.. We're only given a short time in this world,
and to quote Bruce Cockburn-
'Little Round Planet, in a Big Universe... Sometimes it looks
Blessed, Sometimes it looks Cursed..
Depends on what you Look at, Obviously... But Even More It
Depends On The Way That You See'
Norm Sloan's life, actions, and attitude is his legacy, and I'm
honored to have played a small part in his time here with us.
